A Client’s Story
There’s someone I’d like you to meet – for the sake of confidentiality let’s call her Rowen. I started working 1-1 with Rowen, a client, nearly 3 years ago and, honestly, she’s a different person from the bracing-for-burnout woman I met back then. This is her story.
The funny thing is, her life is still the same. Same family (although her kids are taller), same home and the same high-powered medical role. And she’s still one of the most genuine, sarcastic and kind people I know.
Dig a little deeper though and you’ll see just how much has changed on the inside.
When we met, Rowen was stressed and stretched beyond belief.
She’d navigated 7 years of constant change and turbulence, including juggling her career and the early years of motherhood (hi identity loss 🙋🏼♀️) when Covid hit – and she was on the healthcare frontline throughout the pandemic.
Mentally she was in survival mode, and her body was carrying the load of the stress – chronic tension and muscular pain, exhaustion and completely unable to relax.
She had one goal when we started working together : not to go on sick leave.
How I supported Rowen
Rowen knew she needed a solution, but she had no idea where to begin. At that point, she had no idea what normal even looked like.
So, I created a plan for her, based on my teaching framework of mindfulness, movement and mindset.
- We started with gentle movement, breathwork and coaching to close the stress cycle she was stuck in
- I created personalised resources so that she could keep reducing that stress in between our sessions, e.g. mindfulness audios to find calm on her commute
- We moved our sessions to her home after our kids were asleep. Rowen maintains that that flexibility around time and location were so helpful – it made it so easy for her to prioritise herself without even leaving the house
- Classes became about strength, then grounded movement, evolving into more expansive flow – adapting with her changing needs and priorities
And here’s what happened …
- The simple act of carving out a space every week for herself was pivotal for her mental wellbeing
- She made step changes in her lifestyle to prioritise her health and self-care
- Her external boundaries got rock solid – she advocates for herself and learned to say “no” when she knew she didn’t have capacity
- She’s resourced, not running on empty
- Rowen has strong internal boundaries in her high-stress high-impact career, meaning she can serve and support her patients without taking the stress home with her
- She’s returned to the calm, grounded and confident person she used to be
- Exciting new life changes are happening because she now has the capacity
In reality though, she’s come back to herself
This is why I love this work – I teach from the standpoint of alignment.
I want your healing to feel like a homecoming; a return to who you really are under the layers of stress and everything else that life can bring.
Helping driven and burnt out folk who feel like they’ve lost themselves along the way to find calm, resilience and alignment is my jam.
We all know a Rowen. And so many of us are struggling right now.
If you are feeling crushed from the pressure of holding it all without coming up for air, then I want you to know something :
There is another way.
You don’t need to burn it all down.
Small changes can often make the biggest difference – if they’re smart and chosen with alignment in mind.
If you want to purposefully and peacefully show up in all areas of your life without compromising your health or happiness, click to learn more about how I can help you.
And, if you’re ready to make some strategic shifts in your life, book a session with me today to get started. I’ll create a movement, mindset and mindfulness based plan to help you heal, just like Rowen did.
I know this stuff works, and I know it inside out – I’ve experienced it personally and I’ve witness the magic happen for the people I get to work with.
With love
Tali xx
