Personal Updates and New Offerings
There will be parts of your life that feel slower or harder than others. Times when you need to retreat and contract more than others. There are chapters where your growth feels limitless, and others when you have to put everything on hold for something else. Remembering that everything is a phase can help you make peace with this concept. If you’re in a “inner winter” I find it helpful to choose your priorities and temporarily drop your standards for pretty much everything else. It can wait.
I had several people message me expressing relief from this insight. One person said it felt like they could be compassionate towards themselves for the first time in a long time.
The reality is, we can’t be in permanent summer (as nice as that sounds!). Just like nature and every other animal and plant on the planet we are cyclical beings. We need to slow down, rest and deepen just like we require seasons of growth and expansion.
I’m in a 3 year winter (and counting – I think I’m still in these frozen trenches, although definitely towards the end – let’s call it inner February 🥶 ). There’s so many layers of identity to shed and many ego deaths, and, as much as I sometimes resist it and feel frustrated, it’s still absolutely what I need. Matrescence, old business closure, life changes, probable neurodivergence, early perimenopause – there’s been so much to process (often retrospectively) and let go of. I’m at a point of my life where I have to surrender, trust, and support my mind, body and energy.
Through it all I am eternally grateful for my practice. It’s waxed and waned through this season, shapeshifting as my life requires. A few minutes of slow breaths and some cat/cows were often all I could manage when breastfeeding and sleep deprived; now I fit in daily yoga and somatic practices, and strength training 1-2x a week.
Somatic Work
Somatic work has become a huge passion as I’ve studied the nervous system in this season, and I adore teaching it with the added lens of yogic philosophy. Yoga is a somatic practice, and viewing it from this standpoint and deepening my education in somatics has helped me create this integrated, deeply therapeutic new way of working that I’ll be launching soon. Who This Is For
I adore working with people who want to improve their mental wellbeing, reconnect to their body and who are ready to commit to this journey and make the changes they long for. Often these changes are internal (eg., greater resilience, more capacity, self-compassion, confidence and self-worth) which can pave the way for lifestyle changes if desired/required. Nothing external necessarily has to change – but how you relate to it might.
I will continue to offer private yoga classes, but this new separate 1-1 offering will incorporate yoga, somatics, mindset coaching, breathwork and deep rest for purpose-led folk who are struggling to juggle it all. I also hope to make this a group program in the future. If you’re interested sign up below to learn more.
Thanks for reading this and for being part of this community. I appreciate you.
